Some of the fastest ocean racers compete alongside super maxis and ocean racing catamarans, racing yachts and fast sailing cruisers all battling for the Gold Roman Bowl. The town of Cowes, yachting capital of England, pulls out all the stops for the Round the Island Race with some fantastic sailing social events, ensuring a great atmosphere from the pre-race party to the post race cruise. Where? The Round the Island Race 2013 starts and finishes in Cowes on the Isle of Wight in England. Travel to the Isle of Wight is easy on a twenty minute ferry from Southampton which is easily accessible from most areas of the country by road and rail. There is an international airport at Southampton. When? Race training day – 31st May Race day – 01st June Details of our Round the Island Race 2013 Like most race events we participate in we include a training element to bring the crew together and to get the most out of the race, the RTI is no different although we won’t sell you a ‘wind down cruise’ on the Sunday as our yachts live in Cowes so you can just hop on the ferry and go home for Sunday lunch! Included: · Race skipper & Mate · Use of team foul weather gear (jacket and trousers) · Race entry · Yacht berthing in Cowes on the Isle of Wight – Guaranteed · Food whilst training and racing (breakfast, lunch and snacks) Package cost - £425 Why we love the Round the Island Race The Round the Island Race is unique in its sheer scale; on race day there are literally thousands of yachts out there ranging from the smallest laser to sleek maxi racers. It is a spectacle of impressive proportions and even in light winds can never be boring because there is so much expensive floating Tupperware to gawp at! For tactical racing and non stop action for the whole duration of the race, this regatta cannot be beaten.
